about us
Laurin Maritime is an established operator of modern tankers trading mainly from the US Gulf to the eastern seaboards of North and South America and transatlantic to Europe.
Laurin Maritime's core fleet consists of modern 46,000 dwt IMO II chemical class tankers which can switch between clean petroleum products and large parcels of chemicals to provide maximum flexibility of operation.
The ships comply with all regulatory standards and their crews are fully trained and chemical certified to ensure that high standards of safety and environmental responsibility are met.
Unlike traditional shipping companies, Laurin Maritime delegates the daily management of its vessels to Shipboard Management Teams, consisting of two Masters and two Chief Engineers per vessel.
History
Laurin Maritime was founded in Sweden in 1980 by Agneta and Hans Laurin.
The company is still controlled by the Laurin family, which ensures the long-term stability and commitment that underpin the company's success.
Laurin Maritime took delivery of its first two stainless steel chemical tankers from Oskarshamn’s Varv in Sweden in 1982. It then moved on to coated tankers with IMO II/III chemical class, before pioneering 46,000 dwt chemical / clean products tankers. The company has mainly expanded through building new ships of its own design.
Laurin Maritime is modernizing its fleet through its current newbuilding programme. Three IMO II tankers have been delivered between 2010 and 2011 and two more vessels will be delivered in 2012.
